Teacher Appreciation Week

The first week of May doesn’t just mark a month of flowers, it also marks Teacher Appreciation Week, with Teacher Appreciation Day falling on May 6th of this year. With the school year wrapping up, it’s an important time to reflect on the impact teachers make, and why it’s important to celebrate them not only on the days that your Google calendar reminds you to, but every day that they show up for you.

Now, there are different ways you can show the teachers in your life how much you appreciate them. The National Education Association shared their own tips, but what we're most interested in are the lessons that teachers pass on to us that live beyond the classroom. We asked some of our own customers to share their favorite memory, story, or lesson from a teacher in their life, so we can share it here:

My kindergarten teacher who taught me the golden rule: treat [others] how you’d want to be treated."

"Mrs. Brock, my art teacher, she told me that I was the greatest artist she had ever seen."

“My teacher Mrs. Spann when I was in elementary school always used to say 'something is better than nothing.'”

“My math teacher taught me to not give a [crap] about how others view me.”

“Omg Mrs Kim! My high school chem teacher taught me people actually care and never give up!”

“My mentor Diane taught me to always be my artistic loving self no matter. And to love to create.”

“Mario Teillon at National Formation Center in Water Treatment Technologies in Quebec...he was a bio-chemist and gave me the passion for biological molecular functions.”

At TextNow, we like to say that you – the customer – is our greatest teacher. In the 16 years that we’ve been in business, we've learned a lot from you. We learned that texting wasn't enough, so we added free calling. We learned that only using your number over Wi-Fi was too limiting, so we partnered with a cellular network to give more access on-the-go. We learned that phone service is way too expensive, so we found a way to offer it for free. It's why our own group chats are always blowing up – because we're in the business of always learning, not just "knowing." So if you have a teacher that taught you that, or another valuable lesson, share it with us, share it with them, share it with the world and show them your appreciation!
