How to activate your new TextNow eSIM on Android

Before you begin: eSIM activation is only available to customers located in the United States. If you are activating a physical SIM, you can view instructions here.

  1. Check that your phone is eligible

    Your Android phone must:

    • Be running Android version 13+ i or later

    • Be manufactured by Google, Samsung, or Motorola

    Support eSIM

  2. Remove any physical SIMs from your phone
    Open the tray on your phone and remove the SIM Card if you currently have one in your phone.

  3. Update the TextNow app

    Download or update to the latest version of TextNow from the Google Play Store.

  4. Scan the QR code to install your eSIM

    Scan the QR code and follow the instructions shown on your phone. If you are on your phone, you can also tap it.

    Note: Connecting to the network may take a few minutes.

  5. Make sure your eSIM is turned on

    Google Pixel

    Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs.

    Select the new eSIM and turn on Use SIM.

    Samsung

    Go to Settings → Connections → SIM manager.

    On older devices, this may be called SIM card manager. Make sure the new eSIM is turned on.

    Motorola

    Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs or Mobile network.

    Select the new eSIM and make sure it is turned on.

  6. Complete activation

    Return to the TextNow app and follow the remaining steps to finish activating your service.
